Tieto, einer der größten IT-Dienstleister in Europa, setzt verstärkt auf Android, wie in der heute veröffentlichten Presseerklärung von Holland9 bekannt wurde. Der Personalmanager von Tieto, Sami Dahlman, erklärt, dass die Android-Ärea jetzt begonnen habe und dass die Mitarbeiter in ähnlichem Umfang geschult werden müssen wie zu Zeiten des Symbianbooms Ende der 90er. Mit Android habe sich die Mobilfunkbranche geändert und neue technische Möglichkeiten eröffnet, die nur mit einem vertieftem Wissen in Android umgesetzt werden können.
In einem speziell auf die Entwicklung von Androidgeräten zugeschnittenem Fortbildungsprogramm werden mehrere international Entwicklerteams auf die neuen Herausforderungen durch die offenen Plattform vorbereitet. Erste Schulungen in China und Indien haben bereits stattgefunden, wie Jorik Bremer, Gründer und Geschäftsführer von Holland9 gegenüber android-os erklärt. Schwerpunkt seien die Software- und Hardwareentwicklung im hardwarenahen Bereich, wie Integration von Telefon, GPS und Kamera. Das Programm wurde von Holland9 für Tieto und andere IT-Dienstleistern entwickelt, die damit den erhöhten Bedarf an Androidexperten decken wollen.

Holland9 provides training for several of Tieto’s international teams of mobile devices developers working on mobile software and hardware, providing them with the skills and expertise for integrating Android specific features with Linux device drivers and develop software for the fast growing platform.
Holland9 provides Tieto with training to develop new Android devices of the future. Holland9 has created a graduate-level curriculum that emphasizes core Android software and hardware engineering expertise, such as integrating features like Telephony, GPS, Wi-Fi, Audio, Video, Bluetooth and Camera of Android with Linux device drivers.
Holland9 is training the IT professionals to meet the growth in demand for Android hardware and software related services. As the Android platform expands, the IT service industry’s need for Android savvy experts also is growing, creating increased demand for Android hardware porting and software development education.
“The era of Android is here and it’s critical that we meet this technology challenge by building up the competences of our mobile devices developers with a broad range of new skills and competencies,” said Sami Dahlman, Staffing manager at Tieto. “This program, together with internal training, will support Tieto’s plans to roll out Android related products and services in the coming years.” Dahlman added that the magnitude of the training program will be similar to the educational programs undertaken by Tieto during the late 1990s when developers were trained on Symbian engineering.
